Saturday 22:00 Kunstbygningen
With Real Ones as the backing band, the Danish duo Hush, Faeroese Teitur, and the Norwegian solo artists Ane Brun and Christer Knutsen have been the front figures at a series of concerts with each act performing a handful of tracks. This initiative to “reconcile” the sister nations on stage and introduce new artists to their respective audiences is the fruit of the joint efforts of DR, NRK P1, and ROSA. After four gigs in Norway, the next stop of the tour is SPOT. The gig (without Ane Brun, who can, however, be seen elsewhere at the festival) is Saturday night in Århus Kunstbygning. The music has already been broadcasted on Norwegian Radio, but you can hear it on P4 on Tuesday 7th June at 9.03 PM.
Christer Knutsen (N)
Christer Knutsen released his solo debut in January, but he has been a familiar face on the Norwegian music scene for years – together with Janove Ottesen (Kaizers Orchestra), Thomas Dybdahl and others. Solo, it is steel guitar, mandolin – and whisky voice.
Hush
Hush’s sound is stripped and simple. On their debut “A Lifetime”, they strike a rare Nordic country tone with mandolins, banjos, and acoustic guitars not forgetting Dorthe Gerlach’s brilliantly light-as-air, yet wide-ranging voice.
Teitur
Wandering in the borderland of pop and folk, Teitur has established himself as the Faeroe Islands’ next great export article. He has toured all over the world the last couple of years and has even been eulogised by Rolling Stone.
Real Ones
Norwegian Real Ones are an old-school rock band with a marvellous, organic sound which pays due respect to The Beatles and The Band. No wonder they are the darlings of the Norwegian critics. |
