SPOT is not just for long-haired rock bands with piercing guitars. The Festival reflects the currents in rhythmic music, and therefore SPOT 11 makes plenty of room for the extremely vibrant urban scene in Denmark and Scandinavia.

Thus, among this year’s main acts, we find Bikstok Røgsystem, whose hybrid of dizzy dancehall reggae and absurd Danish hip-hop poetry has made them one of the hottest bands in Denmark in record time. These days, the crazy trio play sold out venues all around the country. No doubt, Bikstok Røgsystem are going to be one of the great attractions at SPOT 11.

The hard-hitting rapper Clemens is a familiar face to Danish hip-hop heads. This year, however, he comes with plenty of energy after his significant comeback album “Dans Med Døden” (“Dance with Death”). Karen also excels in Danish lyrics, which together with her luxurious soul vocals have won her the throne as Denmark’s uncrowned R&B queen.

Samsaya has a similar position in Norway, where the Indian-borne singer is a popular, award-winning soul sensation. Her style is cool R&B with gorgeous vocals, no-nonsense rap, and delicious productions. Live, Samsaya and her band are said to be among the best in Norway.
Back in Denmark, Mark Linn rounds off the urban line-up with a smooth and above all well-sung funk rock. One of Denmark’s greatest and most overlooked talents right now!

Well, obviously, we can’t do with just cream and chocolate. Among the new bands on the SPOT 11 poster, you also find both dubbed electronica from Melk, aggressive and punkish electro-rock hymns from Geeza and adventurous singer/songwriter pop from Ea Philippa, who brings no less than nine other women with her on stage. All three bands are part of the vigorous Danish underground.

Icelandic Ske are hard to label: a playful seven-piece ensemble mixing genres and languages fearlessly – the lyrics include words in Japanese, English and French. Finnish The Cleaning Women, however, are beyond categorization, and they are definitely among the favourites for delivering the most peculiar show at SPOT 11. The three Finnish gentlemen always perform wearing women’s clothes and only play on instruments made of drying racks and jam jars! Somewhere in between art museums, jazz clubs, and dance floors, The Cleaning Women are unique on this planet.

Previously, the following artists have been announced: Tina Dico, Skambankt (N), Cloroform (N), Dungen (S), The Tiny (S), Hatesphere, Barra Head, Stuen th., The Royal Highness, Delicia Mini, Rasmus Nøhr, and Djosos Krost. SPOT 11 takes place in and around The Concert Hall Aarhus, Ridehuset, and Voxhall on 10th and 11th June, and before then a total of approximately 90 artists and bands will be released.

Tickets can be purchased at BilletNet, The Concert Hall, Aarhus and Aarhus Billetbureau.
