German radio right now

Saturday | 15:15 - 16:00 | Lille Sal

German listeners are fed up with the “Dudelfunk” of the commercial radio stations with predictable programmes playing endless shoals of virtually identical “hits”, and many public service stations are no better. The question is whether the introduction of quotas can breathe new life into radio, if so who will benefit from the German quotas, and whether Nephew, Swan Lee, Under Byen etc. can hope for airplay in Germany.

Steen Lorentzen
German Radio is Steen Lorenzen’s field of expertise. He has a degree in media studies from Berlin and Brighton, and today he works as a freelance journalist for the public station Radio EINS in Berlin/Potsdam. At SPOT 11, he addresses the challenges facing German radio.
