Jens Unmack
Friday | 16:30 | ARoS
With his band Love Shop lying dormant, frontman Jens Unmack has become a solo artist sine die. In Love Shop, he was the author of a number of modern Danish classics – intelligent, sophisticated, and appealing pop music with its Danish lyrics addressing issues such as regional idyll, xenophobia, and Danish complacency. While Denmark is anxiously awaiting his first solo album, Jens Unmack has hooked up with Nikolaj Nørlund as a producer.
Allan Olsen
Saturday | 15:30 | ARoS
Allan Olsen has manifested himself as one of our best and most significant songwriters. He is a rewarding acquaintance who lashes out against complacency and mediocrity with equal shares of sarcastic wit and sincere poetry. Olsen knows his fellow countrymen, and the Danish language appears to be at his beck and call. His debut album from 1989 is just as relevant today, which goes to show that class is timeless.
Karen
Friday | 19:00 | ARoS
With her debut album “En til en”, Karen Rosenberg became the first exponent of genuine R&B in Danish. She has now released two critically acclaimed albums, and she is still Denmark’s most significant female R&B artist. She has taken her career into her own hands, and besides being a songwriter and a producer, she is also a radio host and co-owner of her own studio and record company.
Niels Skousen
Saturday | 17:40 | ARoS
In the beginning of the 1970's, Niels Skousen and Peter Ingemann formed the legendary hippie duo Skousen & Ingemann, whose album “Herfra hvor vi står”was the beginning of social criticism in Danish rock lyrics. In the 80s and the 90’s, he focused primarily on his acting career. His 2002 album “Dobbeltsyn” was, however, an inspired musical comeback. The album, which was released on the young record company Auditorium, reaped dozens of awards.
Henrik Marstal (interviewer)
Besides playing the bass in the pop band ibens, Marstal is an MA in musicology, a lecturer and the author of several thought-provoking books on music. Thus, in 2002, came “Alt hvad musikken kan” on the potential of music, and in 2003 together with Morten Jaeger, he published “Hitskabelonen” on the standardisation of pop music, which attracted a lot of attention due to its critical stance to the means and objectives of pop music. |
