By Astrid Kirstine Dynesen, MyMusic.dk | Foto: MyMusic.dk | | Marie Key Band forced their spirited audience in convulsive laughter of the highest calibre, while they at the same time delivered a fantastic, musical performance.
If anyone in the audience had hoped for, or expected a mainstream singer/songwriter, they’ve probably been disappointed – or positively surprised. Marie Key Band is namely an alternative experience; front person and singer Marie Key speaks out her sarcastic mind and has a great talent for getting the audience to cast off their inhibitions with her very much down-to-earth and funny lyrics. She presented her simple, ballad-like songs with her bright and authentic voice on a foundation of tight, sometimes funky, sometimes gentle and at other times rock-inspired tunes from the very talented instrumental crew, consisting of a guitar, bass, drums and double-bass.

Without any kind of open nervousness or hesitation, she threw a hyper-active spell over the crowd with her simple, but sometimes really queer thoughts and comments, and naturally the concert felt like one, big spontaneous moment. Though, after tornadoes of wild laughing and over-all madness, she was capable of bringing her audience back to reality by playing quiet and intense songs – right until the craziness went on again. All in all, Marie Key and her band delivered a sublime, warm and cozy performance, witch I’m sure won’t be forgotten by all the cheerful people present that Saturday night at Musikhuset.
