The Tiny - SPOT 11, Lille Sal

By Christian Schlelein, MyMusic.dk

Ellekari Larsson’s expressive voice was the focal point of Swedish trio The Tiny’s acoustic performance Saturday. The Tori Amos-inspired piano playing was backed by sporadic double bass, cello and harmonium, and the orchestra conjured an intimate and fragile mood, supporting the melancholy and loneliness radiating from Larsson’s lyrics.

The amazing vocal performance justified the persistently slow tempo of the music, though Larsson’s voice and piano playing could easily have carried more up-tempo tunes as well, thereby adding some variation to the slightly monotonous concert. But the charming and downplayed attitude of the band went well with Larsson’s honest and personal expression, and the audience did their best to give the part of a classical concert audience. If less is more then Tiny is big, and the band received standing ovations for an outstanding performance.
